What is SkinPen?
SkinPen is an award-winning microneedling device used to naturally rejuvenate skin from tbe inside out, SkinPen is the first FDA approved microneedling device on the market and provides a safe, natural & effective path to younger-looking skin. HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Most people will see improvement in overall texture after 1 treatment. We generally recommend a series of 3 to improve the above listed concerns.
WHAT TO EXPECT THE DAY OF TREATMENT?
SkinPen is a simple, comfortable, and effective treatment for skin rejuvenation. When you arrive for your first treatment we will cleanse & apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area. The topical numbing cream will stay on for ~30 minutes to produce a comfortable treatment experience. It is then removed & the skin is again cleansed. We will place either the FDA approved LIFT serum or PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) on the skin & begin microneedling in the chosen treatment area. Most people feel nothing more than vibration of the SkinPen on the skin. Actual treatment time is less than 30 minutes. When the treatment is complete we will again apply the LIFT serum or PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) & discuss aftercare. We provide you with all aftercare necessities & written post-treatment instructions.
WHAT IS PRP?
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), known as “Liquid Gold” is rich in platelets & contains protein growth factors & nutrient rich cells. PRP is an all natural solution to improve collagen & elastin regeneration, enhance scar tissue remodeling, accelerate hyaluronic acid production, lessen inflammation & shortens healing post-procedure.
PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
- Do not be freshly or overly tanned
- Avoid exfoliants, retinol, vitamin c serum & salicylic acid products for 3 days prior to the procedure
- If you have a history of cold sores, start valacyclovir prophylaxis 2 days prior to your treatment
- Shave excess hair 1-2 days prior
- Alcohol can thin the blood so avoiding this for 24-48 hours prior helps minimize bruising
- Arrive with clean skin free of make-up, lotion or other topical products on the treatment area.
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
- Avoid touching the treated area & keep it clean
- Apply provided Lift HA every hour for the first 6 hours
- Apply provided Rescue Complex twice daily & as needed
- Avoid exposing the treated area to the sun for 48-72 hours, then use mineral SPF 30+ sunscreen
- Avoid exercise & any activities that cause you to sweat, for 48 hours
- Avoid tanning, saunas & hot tubs for 48 hours
- Expect redness, tenderness & flaking for 1-3 days, up to a week
- Cold compresses & tylenol can be used for swelling & discomfort
- Follow up ~1 month after your treatment
